A barrister for former Government minister Padraig Flynn is due to resume his cross-examination of property developer Tom Gilmartin at the Mahon Tribunal later today.

A barrister for former Government minister Padraig Flynn is due to resume his cross-examination of property developer Tom Gilmartin at the Mahon Tribunal later today.

Mr Gilmartin has told the tribunal that he gave Mr Flynn £50,000 in 1989 as a donation to Fianna Fáil, but the politician appeared to have kept the money.

He has also claimed that Mr Flynn telephoned him in the late 1990s asking him to lie to the tribunal about the donation.

Mr Flynn’s barrister, Bernard Madden, began questioning Mr Gilmartin at the end of yesterday’s sitting.

He is expected to try to pick further holes in the property developer’s evidence today and to paint Mr Gilmartin as an unreliable witness.
