Cuffe sceptical of Govt action on property proposals

Green Party TD Ciaran Cuffe, a member an Oireachtas committee behind proposals to use taxes and development levies to help the State recoup some of the profits made by property speculators whose land is rezoned, has expressed scepticism about the prospects of the Government implementing the proposals.

He said similar proposals were put forward following a review in 1973, but were ignored by those in government at the time.
