The Government is reportedly considering the possibility of calling an emergency EU summit to discuss the suspected involvement of Islamic militants in last week’s bomb attacks in Madrid.

Yesterday, German Interior Minister Otto Schily called on the Irish Presidency of the EU to arrange an urgent meeting to discuss the attacks and the possible involvement of Islamic militants.
