Germany's top security official, Otto Schily, has said Bertie Ahern must call an immediate meeting of EU ministers to discuss security measures following the Madrid bombings.

Germany's top security official, Otto Schily, has said Bertie Ahern must call an immediate meeting of EU ministers to discuss security measures following the Madrid bombings.

He said the discovery of a tape in which al-Qaida allegedly claims responsibility for the bombs means Europe must have a co-ordinated security response.
