Clogherhead development plans get approval

Marine Minister Dermot Ahern has approved plans to upgrade the facilities at Port Oriel in Clogherhead, Co Louth.

Marine Minister Dermot Ahern has approved plans to upgrade the facilities at Port Oriel in Clogherhead, Co Louth.

Mr Ahern said today that he had approved Louth County Council’s proposals to seek planning for the project and an environmental impact statement.

The council is planning to spend €6.5m upgrading and improving the facilities at Port Oriel.

Mr Ahern has promised to provide 75% of the funding under the National Development Plan.
