Breast-screening programme to begin in Wexford

The national breast screening programme is being extended.

The national breast screening programme is being extended.

It is to begin screening in Wexford, from a mobile unit based at Ely Hospital in the town.

This marks the first step in the planned full national expansion of the service, which provides free mammograms to women aged 50 to 64 to detect early cancer.

An estimated 9,000 women are eligible for breast screening in Wexford.
