Govt to establish unit for Irish emigrants

The Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has announced plans to establish a special unit to deal with Irish emigrants who have fallen on hard times since they left their home country.

Mr Ahern announced the plan after being questioned in the Dáil today about Government cutbacks in funding for destitute emigrants, particularly those living in Britain.
