IMC considering ad hoc report on Belfast abduction attempt

The body established to oversee paramilitary ceasefires in the North has revealed that it is considering issuing an ad hoc report about the Provisional IRA’s alleged involvement in an abduction attempt in Belfast.

The body established to oversee paramilitary ceasefires in the North has revealed that it is considering issuing an ad hoc report about the Provisional IRA’s alleged involvement in an abduction attempt in Belfast.

The Irish and British governments have asked the Independent Monitoring Commission to write a report about the attempted abduction of dissident republican Bobby Tohill on February 27.

The PSNI has claimed that those involved in the incident were all members of the Provisional IRA.

The IMC has been asked to rule on whether the matter amounts to a breach of the IRA’s 1997 ceasefire.
