Dublin man killed in gangland-style shooting
Gardaí in Dublin are investigating the murder of a man in his early 40s in the Ballyfermot area of the city yesterday evening.
The victim, believed to be a local man, was shot in the back at point-blank range as he walked along Cherry Orchard Avenue shortly after 7.30pm.
He died a shot time later in hospital.
The scene of the gangland-style shooting was immediately sealed off for technical examination.
Reports this morning said the dead man, named locally as Brendan Cox, was known to gardaí and was believed to have connections with drug crime.
