Tallaght women's group slams childcare

A Tallaght women's group has said childcare is available to less than 5% of children in the area, denying women access to education and employment.

An Cosan said the lack of childcare is fuelling poverty in Tallaght as more parents are becoming dependent on social welfare because they can't go out to work.

There are 8,000 children in Tallagh but only 360 childcare places are available.

Liz Waters of An Cosan said this is the biggest barrier to women caught in the poverty trap.
