INO says hospital plans unworkable
The Irish Nurses Organisation has said plans to refer patients from Cavan General Hospital to Drogheda Hospital for surgery are unrealistic and unworkable.
The organisation is calling on the North-Easter Health board to restore full services to Monaghan and Cavan hospitals.
INO Industrial Relations Officer, Patsy Doyle, has said there are not enough nurses in Drogheda hospital to cope with the additional patients.
She said: “We are over burdened already on both the maternity units and the general hospital in Drogheda we cannot realistically accept any more.”
