A conference in Dublin has heard that a cancer patient’s state of mind may affect his or her eventual chances of survival and recovery.

Research suggesting the link between mental states and survival rates was presented to the Irish Cancer Society conference today.

The society said the findings highlighted the need to provide support services to help cancer sufferers deal with the disease.
