Religious orders ‘refusing to hand over €6.5m payout’

The religious orders are reportedly refusing to hand over a €6.5m insurance payout they received to help pay their compensation bill for victims of clerical abuse.

Details of the payout emerged at a meeting of the Dáil’s public accounts committee yesterday.
