Naval service detains Spanish fishing boat

A Spanish fishing boat has been detained by the Irish naval service.

The LE Ciara stopped the vessel for an alleged breach of fishing regulations, relating to under-recording of its catch and logbook infringements.

The Spanish boat was detained around 30 miles south of Castletownbere in Co Cork.

It is now being escorted to Castletownbere, where officials from the Department of the Marine will inspect it.
