Cork to host cardiovascular health conference

Experts from throughout Europe are due to address a three-day conference on cardiovascular health that gets underway in Cork today.

Health Minister Micheal Martin, EU Health Commissioner David Byrne and Marc Danzen, the European director of the World Health Organisation, are all due to attend the event.

Mr Martin has previously indicated his wish to devise a pan-European strategy to fight heart disease following the accession of 10 new EU member states later this year.
