Focus Ireland has launched a campaign to highlight the ongoing problem of homelessness in Ireland.

The organisation said today that almost 5,600 were homeless in 2002, while a further 140,000 were on waiting lists for local authority housing.

Orla Barry, the chief executive of Focus Ireland, said people were currently at increased risk of homelessness because of a housing crisis in Ireland.
