McConville inquest adjourned

An inquest into the death of Belfast woman Jean McConville was adjourned today at the request of her family.

An inquest into the death of Belfast woman Jean McConville was adjourned today at the request of her family.

The McConvilles requested the adjournment to examine garda evidence in the case, including the bullet used to kill the mother-of-10.

Mrs McConville was shot dead by the IRA in 1972. Her remains were found in a grave in Co Louth last August.

Speaking at the inquest this morning, a coroner said he did not believe her killers qualified for immunity for prosecution because her body was found by a member of the public rather than as a result of information passed on by the IRA.
