Fianna Fáil has slammed Fine Gael’s apparent opposition to electronic voting after uncovering evidence of the party’s past support for the contentious system.

Fianna Fáil has slammed Fine Gael’s apparent opposition to electronic voting after uncovering evidence of the party’s past support for the contentious system.

Reports this morning said Fianna Fáil had “dug up” a Fine Gael leaflet saying electronic voting was “as easy as 1-2-3”.

The leaflet dated back to the 2002 general election campaign.

Fine Gael, along with the Labour Party and the Green Party, tabled a Dáil motion this week calling for electronic voting to be deferred until an independent electoral commission had been established to address concerns about its safety and accuracy.
