The National Council for the Blind has criticised the Equality Tribunal for rejecting a discrimination case taken by a blind woman.

The woman took the case against an equestrian centre that wouldn’t allow her to bring her guide dog on a training trip.

The Equality Tribunal ruled that the woman was not discriminated against and it criticised her for contacting the media about her treatment before she lodged an official discrimination claim.

The National Council for the Blind said the ruling would discourage disabled people from highlighting discrimination through the media.
