Group: ‘No jail for parents over family matters’
The Unmarried and Separated Fathers of Ireland organisation has called for legal changes to ensure that parents are not jailed over family matters.
The call follows the recent imprisonment of a man who was unable to afford his child maintenance payments.
The man went on hunger strike in protest at his treatment, but agreed to end the strike yesterday.
Unmarried and Separated Fathers of Ireland had been holding a vigil outside Mountjoy Prison in support of the man concerned.
