Farmers unhappy at Govt nitrates programme

Farmers have expressed opposition to the Government’s proposed programme for implementing an EU directive on nitrates.

Under the directive, member states are obliged to reduce the use of fertilisers and chemicals by farmers in an effort to protect waterways from further pollution.
