Workers at Dairygold have begun a 24-hour strike in protest at the implementation of the company's emergency plan to avoid serious financial losses.

SIPTU, which represents the majority of the employees, said Dairygold management had failed to adhere to industrial relations procedures when implementing the rescue programme.
