Public patients will suffer the most in the hospital consultants' strike, according to the Irish Patients Association (IPA).

Stephen McMahon, chairman of the IPA, claims that public health services will be overwhelmed with private patients when consultants begin industrial action tomorrow, but public patients will simply have their appointments cancelled and will not receive necessary medical attention.
