A substantial quantity of commercial explosives and detonators have been seized by gardaí following a raid in Limerick city.

A man in his 30s has been arrested after the material was found in a van at an estate in the Dooradoyle area of the city yesterday.

The raid was part of an ongoing operation by gardaí in Limerick and Clare against the activities of dissident republicans.

The man, who's said to be from Dublin, was taken to Ennis garda station.

Superintendent Gerry Mahon, who's heading the investigation, said the find was not being linked to the ongoing feud in Limerick at present.
