Electricity interconnectors to be built between Ireland and Wales

The Minister for Communications and National Resources has announced plans to purchase electricity from Wales to meet Ireland's energy needs.

Dermot Ahern said the Government had approved plans to develop two 500-megawatt underwater interconnecters between Ireland and Wales.
