Minister welcomes relaxation of EU borrowing rules

Transport Minister Seamus Brennan has welcomed the European Commission’s decision to lift restrictions on the amount of money member states can borrow for infrastructure projects.

Under existing rules, the full level of borrowing for such projects must be included in a member state’s public finances for the year in which the money was borrowed.
