Health board objects to McDs opening
A formal objection to the opening of a McDonalds restaurant in Ennis in Co Clare has been launched by the Midwestern Health Board.
The Board is citing concerns about the possible effects on children's health, as the basis for its opposition.
It says that official health policy is to reduce obesity in Ireland, however its claimed that millions of dollars are being spent by the fast food industry on child-targeted advertising.
McDonalds says it has always advocated the benefits of a balanced diet.
