Judge to make submission on 1974 bombings

The judge appointed by the Government to investigate the Dublin and Monaghan bombings is expected to make a submission to the Oireachtas justice committee later today.

Justice Henry Barron’s report into the 1974 bombings was highly critical of the then Government, accusing it of showing little interest in investigating the attacks, which killed 33 people on May 17, 1974.

The Oireachtas justice committee is currently examining whether a public inquiry is needed to establish the full truth about the bombings.
