Woman's body recovered from car in Co Down

A woman’s body was recovered today from a car which plunged into a canal near Newry, Co Down.

The victim was driving a green Cavalier when it left the Omeath Road. She is believed to have been in her early 40s.

Divers were sent in to check Newry Canal, but the search was hampered because of abandoned vehicles in the same stretch of water.
