Crane collapse disrupts DART services
Commuters face travel chaos in Dublin today as trains are halted amid fears a partially collapsed crane could fall on to a railway track.
Up to 70 people were evacuated from their homes in Ringsend, in the south of the city, due to concerns the structure could topple and crush their homes.
Two other cranes are due to commence work on the scene today but rail and traffic disruption is expected to persist until the broken-down unit is removed.
The busy railway line, which carries commuters into the city centre from the south, was closed between Pearse and Sydney Parade stations for the day, and a limited service operated between Lansdowne Road, Bray and Greystones.
Services to the north of the city were also affected by delays.
