Forty per cent of Travellers questioned as part of the 2002 census were aged 15 or under, compared to 20% of the population as a whole, according to CSO figures released this morning.

The Central Statistics Office said the census found that just 3.3% of Travellers were aged 65 or over, compared with 11.1% in the population as a whole.
