An independent facilitator may be appointed to chair talks in the CIE dispute.

The CIE group of unions continue to oppose the part privatisation of Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann by the selling-off of routes to independent franchisers.

However, Seamus Brennan reiterated his position during the two-and-half-hours of talks at the Department of Transport today.

Mr Brennan has promised to respond to unions tomorrow and intensive discussions are expected over the next number of days.
