Cullen announces €477m funding for roads
Environment Minister Martin Cullen has announced almost €477m in grants to local authorities for the improvement of non-national roads this year.
Mr Cullen said the money represented a 10% increase on the funding provided last year.
He also said that investment in non-national roads under the National Development Plan was 15% ahead of schedule.
Such routes account for 94% of Ireland’s road network and carry 54% of all traffic in the country.
