A Sunday newspaper is claiming that Fine Gael approached former Irish rugby player Mick ‘Gaillimh’ Galwey to run for the party in the South constituency in the European elections.

A Sunday newspaper is claiming that Fine Gael approached former Irish rugby player Mick ‘Gaillimh’ Galwey to run for the party in the South constituency in the European elections.

The Sunday Business Post says Galwey rejected the party’s proposals.

The Kerryman, who won Gaelic football medals before playing rugby, retired last year.
