The Irish Council for Civil Liberties has called on the Government to devise principled immigration policies in response to yesterday’s High Court ruling on the 1999 Immigration Act and 1935 Aliens Act.

The court ruled that sections of the legislation were unconstitutional, particularly a law that required non-nationals to provide ID on demand to gardaí.
