Environment Minister backs 'clean economics'

The Minister for the Environment has told a European Parliament Committee that "Clean Economics" is the central goal of the environmental programme during Ireland's Presidency of the EU.

The Minister for the Environment has told a European Parliament Committee that "Clean Economics" is the central goal of the environmental programme during Ireland's Presidency of the EU.

The Minister has said it is important to show that high environmental standards also create economic opportunities.

Minister Martin Cullen has said he will use the Irish Presidency to promote sustainable development, and to ensure that high environmental standards lead to more investment in the EU.
