Govt urged to ensure justice for Colombia Three
Campaigners for the three Irishmen accused of training left-wing rebels in Colombia have called on the Irish Government to use its presidency of the EU to ensure the men’s human rights are not breached.
A ruling in the trial of James Monaghan, Martin Cauley and Niall Connolly is expected soon.
The three have been in prison in Colombia since their arrest in Bogota in August 2001.
Fianna Fáil Senator Mary White, MEP Niall Andrews and Sinn Féin TD Sean Crowe are due to travel to Bogota next week to visit the men.
