The Competition Authority has reportedly launched an investigation into Denis O’Brien’s acquisition of a controlling stake in the Dublin radio station NewsTalk 106.

Reports this morning said the authority was investigating whether Mr O’Brien’s 53% stake in the station had lessened competition in the radio market.

The authority is already investigating the proposed takeover of another Dublin radio station, FM 104, by Scottish Radio Holdings, the company that owns Today FM.
