Minister orders survey to uncover school closures

Education Minister Noel Dempsey has reportedly ordered a survey of Ireland’s 4,000 primary and secondary schools to discover if they closed early for Christmas.

Reports this morning said an inspection ordered by Mr Dempsey before Christmas found that some schools closed before they should have.
