CIÉ unions to re-enter talks
The threat of transport strikes has been lifted, temporarily at least.
The CIÉ group of unions has decided to engage in further talks with the Minister for Transport, in a bid to reach an agreement over the proposed break up of the company.
Earlier this week, the National Bus and Railworkers Union withdrew from talks on the matter due to the attitude of Minister Seamus Brennan.
Commuters had feared a disruption to services but the unions have now decided to go back to the negotiation table.
Meanwhile, Mr Brennan has denied claims that he has a closed mind on the break-up of the company.
He admits he has a clear policy on the position and has said the unions have a similar stance, but that neither side should be afraid of discussions.
