Irish speakers to protest at language status

Conradh na Gaeilge is due to hold a demonstration outside Dublin Castle today to protest at the EU’s failure to recognise Irish as an official language.

The organisation claimed that Irish would soon be the only one of 22 European languages not to have official status within the EU.
