The Chambers of Commerce of Ireland have criticised threats by CIÉ workers to reinstate their campaign of action against the Government’s plan to break up the company and privatise 25% of Dublin Bus routes.

The Chambers of Commerce of Ireland have criticised threats by CIÉ workers to reinstate their campaign of action against the Government’s plan to break up the company and privatise 25% of Dublin Bus routes.

Yesterday, the National Bus and Railworkers Union withdrew from talks on the matter with the Department of Transport and decided to take whatever action was necessary to prevent the Government’s plans.

The CCI said today that any industrial action would cause disruption for many businesses, harm the tourism industry and erode confidence in the public transport system.
