Fine Gael has accused the Government of deliberately doing nothing to tackle spiralling house prices in Ireland in recent years.

Party spokesman Bernard Allen claimed the Fianna Fáil-Progressive Democrats coalition wanted house prices to remain high because of the beneficial effect that stamp duty had on the public finances.
