Fisherman airlifted to hospital after rescue

A Spanish fisherman, who fell overboard from a trawler 140 miles west of Slyne Head in Co Galway this morning, is being airlifted to Galway University hospital.

The Shannon-based rescue helicopter and a Nimrod from the UK were dispatched to the scene and the casualty was spotted in the Atlantic.
