The Unmarried and Separated Fathers of Ireland group is due to hold a march in Dublin today to highlight ongoing issues surrounding access to children. A second march is also planned for Christmas Day.

Unmarried and Separate Fathers of Ireland said Christmas time is a particularly bleak period for men who do not have adequate access to their kids.

The organisation has accused the Government of failing to deal with the problem and failing to ensure that children have a right to equal access to both parents.

Spokesman Ray Kelly said: "The Government has made us responsible for children in relation to maintenance and with responsibility comes rights. We’re saying to the Government: ‘Give us our rights to love and care for our children’."
