NI police reform needs more work - report

The North’s Policing Oversight Commissioner has said that much work remains to be done on the reform of policing under the Good Friday Agreement.

In his ninth and final annual report, Tom Constantine praised the reforms already implemented but expressed concern about a general lack of funding, technical support and a new policing college.

He said monitoring of the status of the PSNI Special Branch must also continue to ensure accountability.

Mr Constantine, a former US police officer, was appointed to oversee the reform of the former RUC in line with the Patten Report.
