Former IRA man to give evidence anonymously

A former Provisional IRA member due to give evidence to the Saville Inquiry has won the right for his identity to be protected.

The witness, identified only as PIRA7, is the first Provisional IRA member to seek anonymity at the inquiry.

He has also successfully applied for an order that he not be photographed while entering the inquiry at the Guildhall in Derry.

The Saville Inquiry is investigating the killing of 13 civil rights marchers by British soldiers in Derry on January 30, 1972.
