New charity for young alcohol and drug dependants
A new charity for homeless people has been launched for young people with alcohol and drug dependency.
DePaul Trust Ireland will provide more than 100 beds each night for those in need.
The creation of this homeless shelter will see four new centres set up.
Three of these centres will be for people with alcohol and drug dependency problems, the fourth will be for women who just leave prison.
Speaking at the launch of this new homeless centre, the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern said the DePaul Trust has made a remarkable impact on the provision of services in the Dublin region.
The trust says tackling homelessness will cost it around €3m for the year ahead.
