Man dies in Co Louth car accident

A man in his 60s has been killed after the car in which he was the sole occupant was involved in a head on collision with another car on the M1 motorway near Monasterboice, Co Louth.

A man in his 60s has been killed after the car in which he was the sole occupant was involved in a head on collision with another car on the M1 motorway near Monasterboice, Co Louth.

The driver of the other car was injured in the crash, but not seriously and is recovering from his injuries at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

The accident happened at about 10pm last night and a stretch of the southbound motorway was closed for a time overnight, but has since re-opened.
