Kelly withdraws High Court action
Labour Councillor Nicky Kelly has decided not to challenge the outcome of the General Election in Co Wicklow last year.
The Wicklow Councillor was set to contest the spending campaign of local Fianna Fáil TD Joe Jacob in the 2002 General Election.
The decision follows an earlier ruling by the High Court in which a challenge to the spending campaign of Health Minister Micheál Martin taken by Kathy Sinnott was dismissed.
A similar case taken by Councillor Nicky Kelly against Wicklow Fianna Fáil TD Joe Jacob was scheduled to get underway in the High Court tomorrow.
However, having considered the court ruling issued today, Labour Councillor Nicky Kelly has studied the judgement and has opted to withdraw his court action against Fianna Fáil TD Joe Jacob.
